How W2C Works
At Watt2Choose, we monitor the plans offered by each Retail Electricity Provider (REP), and we update our database daily.
We take the usage history you provide, apply our proprietary usage model, and we calculate the cost of power for each of the available plans in our database. We determine which plan will give you the lowest price based on what you use in a typical year of service.
If you have other requirements such as paper billing rather than electronic, or you want to buy electricity produced by renewable methods such as wind, we will only consider the plans that meet those needs. Keep in mind that both paper billing and renewable resources cost money to provide.
When you enter the usage data from your electricity bill, we’ll calculate the best price and tell you how much you’ll save each year, even before you pay. That way, you can make a decision on whether you’ll save enough money to act. If you are happy with your estimated savings you can purchase your full report listing the recommended plans for a flat one-time fee.
Remember, Watt2Choose is not a REP, which means our service is completely unbiased. Once you purchase your full power analysis report from Watt2Choose, you can contact the REP of your choice and sign up. To make this easier, Watt2Choose provides a sign up link for each REP plan listed on your report. Simply follow the sign up link to directly switch to the company you choose.
When you sign up with your new REP, your old REP is automatically cancelled, and the change will occur with no interruption in your electric service. You are merely changing your billing company. The service is still provided by the transmission and distribution company who has wires coming to your residence.
To ensure your continued savings, before the end of your contract term Watt2Choose will contact you to remind you to compare again to find the least expensive electric rates for the next period. Our daily database updates allow you to take advantage of any new rate plans – and prevents your current REP from switching you to a more expensive month-to-month variable rate plan.
Our Easy Step-By-Step Process
- Step One Getting Started: Get your electric bill (preferably one of the higher usage months) and your current contract information if available. Click on the Let’s Get Started button or Sign Up button. Enter your address, verify your ESI ID, and enter your usage information.
- Step Two Preview Your Savings: View your estimated savings and decide if you want to purchase a full report that will show you the least expensive plans for each term length, including the plan with the savings you previewed.
- Step Three View Your Report: View your report and follow the provided links to sign up directly with the provider of your choice. An email will be sent to you with the full report. You can also log into the site and see your report at a later date.
